In the West - our favourite cup of tea is generally a black one, with milk added. But in China and the far east - milk is something that is not associated with tea, in fact, the Chinese and Japanese people have always consumed these black. So, what's all the full about - and is their a difference? Yes, in a nutshell. Green tea is unfermented, so its chemical makeup and taste are completely different to Black tea. Is Oolong tea a Green tea? No, Oolong tea is only partially fermented - and Black tea is fully fermented, again the taste differs from Black to Oolong and to Green.

The antioxidant compounds that can be found in all teas vary in their strengths according to what you are looking for. Green tea is rich in Catechins - an antioxidant compound sometimes known as EGCG. These antioxidants are 75% less in Black tea - and 50% less in Oolong tea. The significance of the EGCG - is that this compound has the ability to inhibit cancerous tumours and cause them to die. Indeed, hospitals in America have been treating cancer patients - where normal anti-cancer treatment cannot be administered.

The antioxidant compounds found in Oolong tea also has amazing qualities - Oolong tea has the ability to prevent fat from forming and helping the body to dissolve it - by increasing energy levels. This compound is unique to Oolong tea - and is not found in any other tea.
